Baking a Paper (Popsicles) Pie--Cuttlebug Shape Challenge!

Posted on 11:28 by Unknown

Please note: This is NOT the 3rd Caardvarks Blog hop post
That will be posted today at 8:00 AM PST. :-D

However, this card does use Core'dinations and it's
for the awesome Cuttlebug Challenge Blog.

You can click on any of the pics if you'd like a bigger view...

This pie shaped card is made with a template from Paper Popsicles for the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog's "Be Inspired Wednesday" challenge. I hope you can join us to make a shaped card!

Be Inspired Wednesday #45 (Shape)

Hope You can join us in the challenge:

(#45 Shape-8:00AM EST Wednesday)

This pie shaped template is from Paper Popcycles; they have lots of really cool shapes. So nice to have someone else do the work of creating the template!

...bake a cherry pie (card)
(using Paper Popcycle's template)

  • Core'dinations cardstock (Whitewash Collection)
  • Provocraft Textile Textures Cuttlebug embossing folder
  • Red Core'dinations cardstock (this is from ROY G. BIV)
  • Silver Lustre cardstock from Paper Temptress
  • Ridinghood Red cardstock (SU)
  • Textiles Texture Provocraft embossing folder
  • Pencil, Eraser, Scissors, Stylus, & Tim Holtz ruler
  • Paper piercer, needle & thread
  • 1/2 inch circle punch, Crystal Lacquer

Step 1) Make the main pie shaped card:

A) Print the pie template (I made it gray to cut down on ink use.)
B) Cut the template out
C) Trace it onto a folded card & cut the card out

Step 2) Roll your crust:

A) Print the pie card template.
B) Cut half of it off
C) Then separate that pie template into a top & bottom: cut the top of the pie off (cutting a wavy line so you have just the top of a pie crust to work with...)

Step 3) Trace the top section of the template onto Core'dinations whitewash cardstock (2 times) [The crust on the bottom here is just an example of another crust shape that never grew up to be a pie] ;-)

Step 4) Cut the pie crust into wavy strips like pie crust lattice strips.

A) Cut out the first pie crust top to make the strips for one angle

B) Cut out the second pie top to make the bottom wavy crust piece & a couple strips to weave

Step 5) Make the cherry filling:

A) Make the base for the filling:Trace that same pie top filling onto red Core'dinations cardstock (this is from ROY G. BIV)
B) cut the filling base out
C) Punch some cherries out & glue them to the filling base
D) Add crystal lacquer to make it glossy

Step 6) Adhere the lattice strips over the filling-weaving them.

Step 7) Make the pie tin bottom:

A) Trace the cut off bottom piece of the template onto silver cardstock. Add a bit of extra space to the top of the shape, as you trace (a half an inch or so freehand.) The top edge of the pie tin will be hidden by the crust.

This cardstock is the gorgeous Silver Lustre cardstock from Paper Temptress. It embosses like a dream and is not too shiny-classy (and easier than messing with tinfoil.) ;o)

B) Cuttlebug the pie tin with an embossing folder. This is the Textile Textures folder. I also used a stylus & a ruler to add lines to the tin.

Step 8) Adhere the pie tin to the bottom of the card

Step 9) Add the crust & filling top with dimensional foam tape

making a cherries:

Step 1) Make two cherries:

A) Draw & cut 2 cherry shapes. Trace them to make backs for them. Twist a bit of waxy flax & stick it to two of the cherries.

B) Pierce to embellish them with stitching, if you like:
Adhere the backs of the cherries on & pierce around the edges

C) Stitch them & repeat the process to make a leaf

D)
Attach the cherries to your card (if you like you can stiffen & shape the stem by brushing it with Crystal lacquer)

and then you have a cherry pie...

Makes me wanna bake a real pie (or just eat it) ;o)

May your day be the very sweetest,
