Have You been Naughty or Nice? ;O) (& a virtual pearl scallop box--with template)

Posted on 08:39 by Unknown
Oh, have I missed you guys!!! I'm sorry I haven't been able to post the last couple of days. I've been so migraine-y that it should be illegal. I am starting to feel a little better now though. Thank goodness, 'cause i don't wanna miss my two-year blogoversary today! Thank You so much for being such absolute Sweethearts. Your emails and comments make me all happily teary eyed.

This card is very late for Allison's naughty challenge, but it was inspired by her nonetheless. :O) I love Allison's challenges. I am challenge challenged though. I can never ever do them on time. Better late than never?

Card Deets:

This images for this have been on my mind all year & just waiting for the holidays. The angel wings are from my first S.U. hostess set ever: Fashion Statements. (I spent 800.00 bucks to get it, LOL. Back when I wasn't broke; wonder how i got broke, hehehe.) The set has an empty hanger stamp too, so I just drew the devil's tail onto it & embossed it....

Remember glue pen embossing? Some of you Peeps who've been here a while may recall my obsession with drawing with a glue pen, sprinkling embossing powder on it & heating it. Well, it works with gel pens or inkssentials pens too (if you sprinkle quickly while the ink is still wet.) I found an amazingly smooth silver embossing powder by Ranger. I will never use any other icky lumpy e.p. ever again, lol.

Cardstock: Blue Bayou, & the red dotted dp is Basic Grey's Dasher Snowfall/Cranberry. Image stamped on Naturals Ivory that's been printed with vintage "Merry Christmas" text (available here); The image & Blue Bayou mat are cut with my label templates....

You can Download the Label or Note shaped Mat templates here.

The inside of the card:

The mat inside the card is actually a secret pocket for a naughty note, heehee. :O)

And now for today's template:

First things first, (Enabler Alert): This sturdy little box is made with the world's most incredible paper from Paper Temptress; it's called Virtual Pearl!!! It's in the Iridescent family & I am madly in LOVE!!! See that lovely blue tinge on the creamy cardstock up there?

I wish you could see the cardstock in person. It is subtle & classy but SO funky and mesmerizing. It really looks like pearl. The weight is dreamy (just the right heaviness to make the nicest boxes!) But you can get it in text weight too. I need a gazillion pieces of it! Good thing their shipping is so fantastic. :O) Who knew paper could be so intoxicating???

You can download the templates for this 2 2/8"
box & scalloped liner on SCS here

(or click these pics for JPGs)

PDF downloads:

BOX pdf (no scorelines for direct printing)
LINER pdf (I printed and traced but you could just print 4 & cut)
SCORE GUIDE BOX pdf (original SU box--not resized so it might need borderless printing)

To make the beaded liner:

Working while the box is unassembled seems to be the easiest route...

1) Print template for liner on to cardstock & cut it out.
2) Trace it 3 times on to patterned paper.
3) Fit to box & score where the fold should be
4) Crease the fold
5) Pierce holes along the fold (just above)
6) Thread needle (making sure that your beads slide over it first) :O)
7) Adhere thread end to the back of the liner
8) Stitch and just slide a bead onto each stitch

It sounds like a lot, but it actually goes pretty quickly & it looks kinda nifty when it's done.

Thank you for bein' You!
:O)
