New MFT Illustrator! (and MFTeaser tutorial)

Making this made me wanna travel!

Have you travelled much? I've never been to France

(despite an urgent desire to do so)

but now I can live vicariously through this new MFT character: Jolinne.

(She told me she thought it would be chic to wear a beret on this card...) ;o)

(Are you all in a state of shock at seeing an inside of a card actually decorated? methinks this is the 3rd or 4th time in the history of the world that I've done that. I gotta keep up with the MFT team, now; they are card-inside-decorating-masters! heehee)

This cutie patootie Miss You Much Jolinne image is only one of the new My Favorite Things Jolline's sets that you'll see in the team's teaser projects today (there are two more!) :o)



This card also uses the delightfully naughty & new MFT Twisted Threesome sentiment set.

• Perfect Paper Panels, Black Archival ink, clear embossing powder, heat gun
• Copic markers & Prismacolor pencils, Sakura glitter pen (stardust)
• Diamond Glaze, Tombow Monomulti
  
  
• Black Cardstock & GCD Paris Nights & other vintage styled patterned papers
• Paper piercer, needle, thread (dark gray, black & silver) seed beads
• Silver metallic pen (for suitcase handle & hinges)

Step 1) Stamp MFT Miss You Much Jolinne in black Archival ink on Perfect Paper Panels & heat emboss in clear embossing powder. Cut the bottom of the image into a rectangle & cut Jolinne in the "out of the box" style. Colour with Prismacolor pencils & Copic markers.







Step 2) Paper piece the three suitcase on ledger & text paper (embossed & shaded with a gray Prismacolour pencil.)







Step 3) Glue the paper pieced suitcases to the image.







Step 4) Make a beret hat (or tam) and add put it on Jolinne:



A) Stamp Jolinne's head (roughly) on the back of a scrap of cardstock

B) Use that as a guide to draw the right size hat in pencil

C) Cut out the hat & colour it with gray & black Copic markers

D) Score the hat with the tip of a paper piercer (cross hatching for faux fabric look)

E) Pierce a hole where you'd like the little thread at the top of the beret to be

F) Thread some black/dark gray embroidery thread into a needle & pull it through that hole to the back

G) Adhere the end of the thread on the back of the beret & trim the top of it

H) Add a bit of Crystal Lacquer to keep the thread from fraying

I) Stick the hat on Jolinne's head. :o)







Step 5) stamp just the legs (colour them, paper piece the boots & pierce & stitch them--using silver thread)







Step 6) shade the rough underneath of the legs (the finished paper pieced legs made in step 5 will hide this, but some will show and look like a shadow)







Step 7) Glue the legs on. I used two small pieces/layers of cardstock underneath the feet for dimension.







Step 8) Scratch the cardstock with a paper piercer or something sharp to make a cross hatch texture on the suitcases.



It gives you a distressed kind of texture...







a very subtle texture, but I find it oh so fun to do (and it's free.) :O)







Step 9) Mount the image on a rectangular mat of black cardstock & pierce holes with a paper piercer, then stitch beads on. I alternated silver & gold seed beads in two sizes.







Step 10) Make a background using GCD Paris Nights paper (stitched on.) Cut a moon shape from a section of it & adhere it onto the Parisian scene--I layered under the moon for dimension (gluing on cardstock scraps & cutting the extra away.)







Step 11) Add a little Prismacolor Pencil & Sakura stardust glitter to the moon, then glaze it with Crystal Lacquer







Step 12) Adhere Jolinne to the card & then add Swarovski crystal stars







Step 13) Make the sentiment tag & stitch it on the front (adding a bead)







Step 14) Affix paper on the inside & pierce holes then stitch around it







Step 15) Add the rest of the sentiment inside the card (sugar daddy)







Step 16) The stitching going through to the back (from decorating the card inside) can make a neat panel on the back of the card too, if you like. Just be sure to adhere your thread ends in the middle of it & cover that with more patterned paper...

Tinted "photography"

I wanted to make the GCD Paris Nights paper look like a tinted vintage photographs and it went super speedily by colouring lightly with

Prismacolor pencil crayons...



The nice thing about these pencils is that you can use an eraser and or a blender pencil/white pencil to soften the colours (and you can blend different hues too.) Such an affordable and nifty way to match colours elsewhere on your project or to add colour to a paper & change it up for free... (in my humble opinion.) ;o)
